Now im worried cause i have an oscar and a sailfin..........
its ok for now the pleco is still small enough to hide all day, for now

It's spelt bichir...anyhow I think this goes with most monster fish. IMO some are aggressive some aren't. It depends how it was raised, fed and how lucky u get with one. I've had 14"-18" bichirs live with 3.5" fish for 1.5 yrs and they never touched them. I even had a near 2' Asian gold Aro with 3.5" fish and he never even bothered them. More likely I'd say never trust a stingray lol. Raise your bichirs on pellets then less chance for it to be aggressive opposed to feeding it live foods.

I don't think it's their fault i mean anglefish have long fins and don't move very fast soooo..... i think i was a bad combo lol it really depends on the fish i mean i am 99% positive that if instead you had tiger barbs you probably would still have them there.

I have experienced the other side of the fence as well. I had a 19 inch endli with two 5 inch endlis with no issues at all. I think slow moving fish trigger and instinct strike from polys. No matter what the size, if a slow swimming fish comes by, it will more than likely provoke a strike.

I currently keep my birchir that is 5 inches with lots of cichlids and 2 of the cichlids(green terror and convict) are only 1 inch... angelfish are slow moving and stuff but my green terror and convict are very active an always moving...

I've been waiting for something like this to happen in my tank ... I've only the one senegal bichir (5 1/2" - 6") and I was hoping he'd devour the few fish that were in the tank. But I'm starting to think he's off all live foods now ... (I'd stopped feeding him live foods for awhile there). I've 2 platy's and 3 cherry barbs still in the tank from when I established it, as well I've added 5 ghost shrimp about a month and a half back, and my bichir has left them all alone. So like it was previously mentioned you never know.
But it has helped build my confidence about putting African Butterfly Cichlids in my tank like I was hoping.
