Just picked up this 10'' fatty along with four others. One 6'', two 7'' and one 8''. One of the 7'' has a orange spot pattern. Just like a black spot on a loach but solid orange. Has anyone ever seen anything like that before? Will make a separate thread on him asap but heres a pic of the 10'' fatty I just picked up. Just wanted to share it with mfk.

I got the 5 loaches from a nice lady that said she has had them for 8 years. She bought them from a friend that previously had them for 2 years so these loaches are 10 years old. Dont know if I believe all of them are 10 years old but the biggest one sure looks like it.

Diet consisted of "all you can eat" baby bristlenose plecos that were breeding in her tank the whole time :WHOA: and a variety of omega one sinking pellets .
I'll post pics of the whole pack asap. Thanks mfk.

The 8" loach has symmetrical spots (one on each lower side) and one 7" loach has symmetrical spots (one on each lower side) with the addition of a same size orange spot on one side. Looks like a multi color #2 domino.

That definitely is a fat loach! Maybe a diet would be in order.

Post pics of the others!

Thanks! Ill take that as a compliment! Ill post pics of the others asap but they are not as fat as this one is but still nice. This 10 incher makes them all look small now and my other loaches are a decent size. The majority of them are 7-8". Im sure a 12"+ tank raised loach would make mines look small too if it was as fat as this one. A lot of big loaches I see have length but not as much girth. Not trying to "toot my own horn". I know there are other fat ones out there bigger than mines but im just saying.

I've got a 9" cl that is my largest. It isnt as chunky as yours tho. I'll post a pic of him if you don't mind...

I say tank raised because i think most of the long and skinny ones you see that are already big are wild caught. They were caught as adults. Someone please correct me if im wrong but how do vendors and lfs get these big batches of 9"+ loaches all around the same time? Just compare the big ones you see that are tank raised, homegrown, to the big ones you see for sale from vendors or lfs. They look totally different.

The pic of my largest that I just posted I had raised from the time it was 4". Bought it from my lfs but not sure if it was originally wild caught or not.
