Just picked up what looks to be a barred midas. was a pair, but the LFS sold the male separate. Shes about 10-11" long.

Her 'bars' aren't as distinct as most other barred midas and she has some weird colors in some places. Overall shes definitely not the prettiest fish in the world. But this was the closest thing i could get to what i wanted (escondido or nice red devil/midas) anywhere around here.

how does she look? heres some pictures and one with flash to show some of the coloration. sorry for the blury pictures.

shes in with a 8" Common pleco, 7" bgk, and 3 5" senegal bichir(2 albino). so far she hasnt shown much if any aggression towards them. she seems interested though. The pleco has actually been the mean one. at least so far. How long do you think this will last?

i plan on removing the 3 senegals because they are not growing very well, ones deformed and the other ones are albino. i will replace them with 3-4 delhezi's as soon as i can find some for sale online.

i also plan on removing the bgk, its to shy, i never even see it. i forget i have it all the time, so why keep it?

She so cute!
I'm amazed she in such good shape after coming out a relationship.

i agree! especially the size they were. i believe the male was almost 12". i still cant believe they broke the pair. what a waste. im hoping maybe oneday i can find a nice male and they will pair up.

So am i correct about the breed? it just doesnt look completely like a barred midas. theres some colors and tones that are a little different, even the patterning is a little different.

i suspect it was bred with something a little different but similar.

anybody have any input?
