im still kinda undecided on the fish.. i want a good selection.. some big some medium sized, my wife wants colorfull fish.. the local fish spot has a nice selection but i know there has to be other cool or weird fish that most local fish stores have... any advice on different breeds or places in the socal area riverside/oc to check out would be cool
thanks guys

im defently liking those fish.. i have a baby tiger oscar in a smaller tank..he will be going in this big one.. some schooling fish would be cool if there are FW schoolers.. puffers? defently want a eel.. im going to get some fake plants and other stuff to put in the tank b4 i fill it tomorrow.. id get live plants but im clueless..i just had money to blow and thought a big ass tank in the living room would be awesome lol..i get a kick outta my kids 10gal soooo i know this is gonna be fun lol..

i blow glass to so i think im gonna mess around with that maybe make some things for air bubbles or lil fish hide outs... you guys think a crab will use a glass shell? i could make them small and light weight..real shells might be lighter though

1. that is a great looking tank. Fantastic.

2. My best advice? Do LOTS of research into which fish can live together peacefully. The road to ruin is often paved with the best intentions.

What I would do?

4-6 angelfish
A large group of lemon tetras
A large-ish group of bleeding heart tetras
A group of cory cats
4-5 yo-yo loaches
A bushy nosed pleco.

Note: your Oscar limits your selection of tank mates. Though not aggressive, they get big and will eat anything that fits in their pie holes.

And I'd also advise, your going to need a lot more filtration than that, especially with messy fish like Oscars (lots of poop and uneaten food!)

thanks for the info... really more filter? that one is rated for 178 gallons.. ya thats one thing thats thowing me off on the oscars lol messy lil things.. im gonna go check out the fish you listed... i might put the oscar in another tank in my glass studio if hes gonna make the tbig tank in the living room look poopy lol

Don't get me wrong, Oscars are great, but they are messy in my humble opinion, and would require more filtration.

to your set up, i'd ad a large HOB to get some water circulation going. Like large Emeperor /Penguin or Aqua Clear

Id go with five snakeskin discus with a school of rummynose tetras. Then add in some corries and BN plecos. Some tall amazon swords and anubias wouls be cool too.

lol i need a fish picture book lol... gonna look up those types... i know the discus those are sweet lookin fish.. im filling the tank up tonight...got it all decorated more pix to come..
