how do u know its a male or female? any clue?

hi mate , you can see the depth of the body on the female is about twice as deep as the same size male . when you see them side by side the diferance is obvious , when i pick up the male i will put up side by side shots.

cheers mate , and yep yours will be there before you know it , to be honest when i sold you mine i was not going to bother with pleuros any more , but then when i was offered this one for £40 , well i just could not say no

Paddock farm is fantastic i thought i was the only one on here that knew about it they have a stuning veriety of fish i csan allways find somthing of interest.

agreed mate , it helps a lot that mark the manager is into the same type of fish we all keep on here , everytime i go there is something really nice in stock. they have a 14" female auranti in at the moment for £50 , allways some dats in stock and ive seen atf a good few times now , i think it got to be one of the best shops in the northeast

neil it will get more and more obvious as time goes on , also in pleuro the female is useally the bigger fish from a same aged group , as the females do grow larger than the males also


take a look at this vid , this is a 100% male pleuro you can see how slender it is compared to my female

males also tend to be more intense blue where as female tend to be blue/green also

Congratz tropheus ! stunning Pleuro , really never seen one that huge. i gotta admit i kinda miss my red SH . im hearing about a Eu/sweden bann for snakeheads ? is this true? i know if i had the space i would sure love to have some snakeheads again.

hi mate , yes i do think also the collection area do have a lot to do with the colour , with the specamins comming from collection points with lower ph showing some of the better colours , unfortunatly most the ones being offered in the trade now are farm bred so the diferant colours are very rare , but i have seen some really nice gold and purple ones

hi mate , we are currently looking into the satus of the proposed ban , there are rumors it will not go ahead , but waiting for official clarification on this . i will make an anouncment as soon as i have the information ,
if you fancy another one try and order in a diplogramma , same looks ect of your red but with a much smaller adult size

Hey mate. Great looking fish!

I am not quite shure if I also think it's a female or a male. The high back and the head shape puts me off a bit (towards thinking it would be a old male). Also I would expect the colour / pattern to be less in a female.

Maybe you can take some new pics when the fish has settled in well?
