But seems like such a PITA to clean man. So use to just taking the hose and sweeping the bottom of the tank and calling it a day.
I feel u on that one but I the sand brings out their colors more and keep them comfortable.. With sand I use a net and scoop up the poop and easy as that

Nice White Spotting!! Rays get blacker and spotting gets whiter as they age.
Ray is not defective. Tail was either broken, chewed or cut. Sometimes it's a few hours before I realize there are newborn pups and the damage is done.
The adult rays check the pups to see if they are food. Sometimes they get cut with adults barb during or right after birth. I've had one pup cut in half.
I agree with u the tail is not defective and I love it even without a full tail.. Your BD are really nice and can't lie about that, he is being well fed and good taken care off, and he will be happy when another BD joins him... its almost near
Once tail is broken or cut badly it falls off and doesn't regenerate. If it's only tissue damage, that will most of the time regenerate.
