New 24 foot tank...need stocking advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i personally would get a silver aro, jack dempsey, green terror, firemouth, 2 pair of convicts for fish food, red devil, jag, an oscar, texas cichlid, severum, a bunch of clown loaches, and a few plecos if its a glass tank, and some p-bass. i love cichlids if you cant tell. i would put lots and lots of pots in it. and some natural gravel. pots are cheap and very effective and i love the look of them.

That needs a BUNCH of arowanas. If you are broke from buying the tank, get six medium silver aros.. about 50 bucks each.. then feed them well and watch them grow FAST. If you still have room in the budget, get six asian aros, different types. Then get a collection of polypterus to hang out on the bottom of the tank.
You'd be set, some of those fish could live twenty years in there.

YOUR TANK IS RIDICULOUS!

Frank from the Netherlands has some great fish in his tank, he's into stingrays in a big way. Have a look at the pic on his homepage - http://www.freshwaterstingray.nl/Frames Engels/English.html - Asian Aro, Discus and rays.... He's also had Geophagus in there and that looked great too. Check the video on the "My Tank" page and click on Tank Today. That'll show you his Aro, Geos and rays - looks amazing. While you are there, take a look at the "Mega Tank". It's ridiculous!

Hope this gives you some ideas. You have so many possibilities with that tank, and the height and width should allow you great flexibility with your stocking choice. Personally I would avoid big catfish, especially if you want rays - they will be more than enough to create interest on the bottom of your tank.

Good luck with it - I'd love to have the "problem" of stocking something like this!

First of all f-ing awesome tank man but is it just me or is the tank divided into sections as it looks? Can the fish swim all 24ft of the tank?

If so a few Asian arros, some rays, a big school of fei fengs, Geos, a tig or five, a school of red hooks, and some cichla would look SWEET!!

It would be cool to have about 2,000 tetras.

Love to see that tank with some 30+ inch Silver arowanas and a school of 500 cardinal tetras. I don't kwow if Arows that size would make much of an attemt to eat the cardinals.

Software developing industry must be doing well! ha ha

Good luck with your decision! What ever you decide...you best be posting lots of pictures of those bad boys!

cheers
