New 55g Suggest away

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea they are kinda lazy but a nice addition to any tank. I find mbuna to aggressive but they are very active..... i prefer haps, they beat Mbuna anyday.. the color on haps is stunning..
And Yes you can house one front is a 4 FT tank easy.... like i said i have one in my 60 gallon (long) and he has PLENTY of room..
he is 9 inches btw
Again i think its personal choice at the end on the day.. i do plan on upgrading though... maybe a 8 footer

i think that fronts do better as a group, and they just look striking with a tank ful of them-beautiful! lol-i would not put fronts in a 55 gallon, but to each his own, eh? i would stick with mbuna-their colors are just beautiful-i have a 180 gallon filled with mbuna. or you could go with one hap. i had a 9 inch Venustus male in a 90 gallon-he would eat his tankmates-so thats why he was left there alone. he was by far my favorite fish.

also shellies would be great.

^ navygirl is right.. but everyone likes something different.. i like my frontosa alone :) and he is really happy.. maybe cause he is the dominant male... but if you wanna go all mbuna... go for it.

Frontosa are better in a group period. Yes they can be kept alone, but it is better to keep in a group. The type of Frontosa makes no difference on needing to be in a group or not.

Back to the OP's question.

How about a shellie tank. Some shellies, some shellie comps, and then some cyps for the higher water colomn.
