New 6ft Acrylic tank on the Cheap. LOTS of Pics

Thanks all. :)

I think today I am going to un-plumb the monster pump it came with and put a canister filter inline with the sump and tank. This way I don't have a monster 90 watt (*loud*) pump running 24/7 and instead have a quiet canister that pulls from the sump and them fills at the tank. I can make it work with the existing plumbing hopefully. It won't be near the GPH of the big pump but it will also be filtering as well as pumping so I think that makes up for it. Not to mention the sump has a crap ton of filter material in it, so the turn over rate won't be super high but the filtration should be enough to make up for it. Plus I got about as lucky as can be and snaked my AC110 onto the tank, it just fits under the hood and is completely hidden except the pickup tube. I will have to move the ballasts as I can't open the hood all the way now but that is ok. So between a canister, AC110, and the sump filtering the water as it drains it I think it should be adequate. I also put in one more Visi Therm Stealth 200w heater I had around in the tank, the one was trying way to hard by itself so I wanted to even out the load.

Well I learned a couple things today, one is that an XP1 is not strong enough to lift water from a sump and pump it in a tank. Two, is that an XP2 will do it. I was jockeying stuff all around between tanks. I ended up ordering an XP3, so I'll put the XP2 back on my 75g and put the XP3 on the new tank when it gets here. I just forced the outlet of an XP hose onto the PVC outlets at the top of the tank and the same at the sump inlet. I clamped the bottom just to be safe. Works like a charm and filters as well as pumps water from the sump to the tank. Then it just overflows back in on it's own as it fills.

Some updated pics.

Left side, sorry it's dirty. Doesn't matter much though with the acrylic being hazed inside. You can see the RTC & Pike though.

nice deal!!! any other shots of your sump?

aquatics wonders, anything specific you wanted to see? The entire bottom/stand is the sump.

Dj, Thanks.

Tchizzle, Wish I could have but there isn't a way without drilling it or running the cords out the front. The stand is the sump, there are no holes in it at all. Nor is there any gaps to snake the wire through except the lid on the front. Which would look kinda lame if I did that. If I could I would though.

Killer deal!

Nice tank, & killer deal! I just picked up a 55 gallon full setup for $50. Great deals can be had if you are patient & look hard enough! Polish's deal is proof. I silently laugh when I hear how much some people pay for a simple freshwater setup. It can be done so cheaply folks.....
