New 700 Litre tank filtration questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's as full as it needs to be for now, phew.

I decided to speed up the cycling process, by using my old tank instead of the sump for a few days. I will then transfer 1 of the filters and some fish, then a few days later the other filter and rest of fish.
This way they don't get a shock PH change and bacteria transfer is quicker.
I think................
Will post new photos later

sounds good so far,, i will be copying yours soon ,but it will be marine. so were you've got pete i will be useing mirical mud

Just out of curiosity, is anyone other than Danny and Dr Joe reading this thread?

So here's the photos of todays work and the temporary system running water from 1 tank to another.

See the effect acid rain has had on my hair!!!

Started with the gravel at the back, then dragged it forward to create the usual slope from front to back

Filled it slowly from the tap using a fine spray then treated it with API tap water conditioner

And finally here was my late idea to cycle the system much faster.
I set my 2 pump sump system running on my small tank rather than my sump, this way i can equalise the water parameters and transfer bacteria easier.

The water is much clearer than I thought it would be, maybe due to me putting it in so slowly with a fine spray.

primarily a very well planted tank, i may order a box of 100 or so plants

ive always wanted a planted tank but my choice in fish has made it impossible, in the early days i spent big time on plants just to end up as food:irked:

I will fit the fish to the planted tank, rather than the tank to the fish.
