+1 to the canuck...triggers can mess with your lionfishes fins though. Lions should be kept with fairly gentle tank mates. Groupers are mean little bastards...and will do night raids on other fish until they kill them. So...just watch it.

I have bought off of fosters & smith, as a wisconsin boy its almost required. :D Good stuff, great guarantee, so not much to complain about.

So I think I'm gonna try the jewel moray, the blue spotted puffer, and either a humu rectangle or a niger trigger. I know I can get the puffer and the niger locally.

I found a skilter filter on ebay, which has a protein skimmer in it, you guys have anything good to say about them or should I get get a normal protein skimmer?

Oh, and I really appreciate all the help and fast responses. I will keep you guys updated.

are you going to get a humuhumunukunukuapua'a or are you going to get a rectangulus? Somewhat similar coloration, but different fish. Just to let you know.

I thought humus and undulated triggers were some of the meanest ones?

A rectangulus...thats the kind I got yesterday. Humu...is just like the hawaiian word for triggerfish. Interesting that they decided to throw that into the common name. Gorgeous fish anyways...and yes undulateds are probably the most aggressive commonly available triggers.

Thats your basics for aggressive triggers. The one above are SUPER aggressive and ALWAYS need to be watched

The ones below are sometimes just as aggressive but usually are better.

niger is not a good idea for a trigger.

Ok, thanks for the info. I just ran up to a local chain pet store to see what they had in stock. They had a queen triggerfish, a blue spotted puffer, a white spotted puffer, and a volitan lionfish... at least as far as preds go...

Any info on the skilter filter? and also can these fish eat market shrimp?

What about the super rare Vampire Trigger with the wicked fangs?

you could do a spotted grouper (just)
most lion fish would be or right in a 75
Saddle Puffer
Spiny Box Puffer (quite interesting)
spotted puffer
afew different trigger species would be okay (will need moving on)
dragon wrasse for a while but would need moving on
snow flake eel
chain eel
jeweld mooray eel
snow flake eel
wolf eel
all of this would be good possabilitys but some like dragon wrasse and some triggers would need moving on

Yeah I think I got the stock list down, just need to get a skimmer and find whose got the best deal on the fish I'm interested in. I found a local guy on CL who is ordering some blue spotted puffers in and should have them on Friday for only $24...
