Looking for suggestions-
I'm definitely getting a black ghost knife, now trying to figure out what I can put with it.
Sold off my 125, clown loaches, Denison barbs, 90 is as big as I can go in new apt and I want to get into cichlids but don't know many different species to look for...

Im goin for a few big fish rather than a bunch of small ones. Won't get a bigger tank for at least 3 years. Filtration= 2 Eheim 2217s

Ideally id want a pair of the largest most colorful south American cichlids I could have in there with the ghost knife.

Throw some ideas at me!

U can do Discus if ur looking for color. Ghostknifes r usually peaceful and don't bother other fish. I have mine with Angels. Geos r also a good sugestion, even an Oscar if it's smaller then the ghost and can't fit it in his mouth. Severums can work too

Yea i want an oscar(s) but from everyhting i've read, 2 oscars in a 90 is really pushing it and i'd need to do multiple water changes per week which is not going to happen...
Same with discus...theyd be great but thats multiple changes per week as well right?
I dont want to have to put THAT much work into it (dont get me wrong I do take care of my fish well though).

Is that a Geo in your sig?? what is it/thats what im getting haha

A nice pair of severum's would be nice, maybe even a true parrot (Hoplarchus psittacus).

I am assuming that this is a standard 4' 90gal.

Angels may also be nice to see with a small shoal of some type of tetras.

If have to agree that 2 O's would be too much.

Edit: some blue Acaras might be nice as well and could go with the angels.

U can keep one oscar in a 90 and with good filter u won't have to do any extra water changes also with discus if u get them at 4" or more u also don't have to do to much water changes, twice week would b enough. Daily WC r only required for juvies.
If ur asking about the fish in my avatar, that is Green Terror Aequidens rivulatus I had a pair few years back and i still miss them :) Some of them can be mellow like mine were and some can be mean. U can try growing one out with ur Ghost and it might work but no guaranties.
Check Geophagus Tapajos or Rotkeil Severum if none of the above work for u.

Severums would be nice or a red severum. What about a green terror pair? Jack Dempsey. Blackbelt cichlid? A paratherap? Salvinis? And a 90g is great for a bgk for a very long time bgks grow so slow.

I need to spark up my fish life

i have my BGK with an oscar, gold sev, chocolate, clown loache sand silver dollars. My bgk is around 14 inch after about 4 yrs. He is pretty mellow but can be territorial and sometimes trys push round my sev and choc. I had to rehome a featherfin catfish a few yrs ago because they were always fightng for the same hiding spot. For the most part my ghost is pretty chilled but some times likes to throw is wait around
