New 90g stock w/ Ghost Knife?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm dead set on the Oscar and ghost knife just lookin for something bigger than say kribensis to try to breed in there that won't attack the oscar or knife

Nothing breed will survive with both and Oscar and bgk. The eggs probably wont even make it to free swimming stage.

Even Breeding cons would tare up a BGK's fins

Um crazy thought how would a few BGKS fair? Or a Brown Ghost or Clown Knife? Maybe a Polypetrus?

An Oscar all be a great fish, is a bunch of bio waste waiting to happen. And a 12" + O might make a snack of a 6" BKG. That oscar will hit 1 foot in less than 1 year. Maybe something different like 4 or so Electric Blue JD's. That would look great with the BGK's white/black and the blue jd's.

They will tear up its fins but the fry will not survive a night.

but breeding electric JD's wouldnt? I actually tried to get electric JD's but all the sites i checked were out and none locally. could I put a couple of those in my current setup? (1 oscar, ghost knife, future pleco or bichir)

I'm going to consider getting a bichir instead of pleco...easier on the bio load and probly see him more....speaking of has anyone kept a type of pleco that stays out all the time? I had a three beacon that I literally never saw...hid all the time.

the ghost is very close to 6" now while the oscar is under 1.5"...i'm hoping the BGK grows fast enough... from what ive been reading it will.

I will say that the BGK growth rate isn't slow but it's no where near fast. The O should be 12" in a year and I'd only expect another few inches from the knife in that time at the most. No worries though, as long as you have a cave or pipe or whatever as a hiding spot for the knife it will be fine. I have a 7 incher' living with 3 grown Oscars, they pay it no attention and it was introduced at around 4" or 5" so you shouldn't have any problems.

EDIT:

I have a Albino Bristlenose Pleco that stays out all the time but he's not in the tank with my O's. He's pretty small, I'd say there'd be a 50/50 shot an O might see him as a meal.

I have a BGK in my tank with Severums and Salvinis and everyone gets along fine
