Update
Oliver had a rough first couple days in the tank. Nothing too bad, but a few split fins. My female gt took a liking to him after that. By friday he was head/body shaking at her. Then she started shaking back.
She wasn't due to lay eggs for a couple more weeks, but her egg tube dropped over the weekend. On Monday she laid her eggs and to my surprise Oliver was right there trying to do his thingO.O
Talk about a weird sight... a large female with this little guy trying to fertilize the eggs.
You can see he is missing some scales on his side. That is from him displaying his manliness in front of his new girl. Just another reason my jack won't be staying in the tank. He really holds his own now and the jack has backed off.
The top pic was taken the day him and the female gt spawned. So he looks a little rough, but you can see how he has been filling out compared to the bottom pic of him.
Back to the eggs. I really didn't think he fertiled them, but I left them anyway. Greenie cut my hand last month when I took her eggs, so I was going to see how long it would take for them to be eaten.
Again I was surprised, the eggs have little black dots in them and have gotten more clear looking. Here she is guarding them yesterday.
This picture is horrible. Bad lighting since it was cloudy today. Side note: I finally decided on some lights today. Haha
Still not sure what's going to happen with the eggs. I don't expect them to live past hatching, but we will see.
And of course here are some pictures of my Oliver

His fins have been healing well along with his missing scales. I'm keeping a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't get any bacterial or fungus infections. I'm not too worried though, things have been healing fast. At the very least I'm excited that I know for sure now Oliver is a boy!
