New addition to the 210

I've always thought these were really aggressive. I guess they aren't?
It depends on the fish. Some Blood Parrots show no aggression, and others show more. I asked the someone at my lfs if he saw any aggression from her, and he said the most she did was chase away the JD a couple times.

When I first put her in the tank she was a little aggressive, but now she's the most well behaved fish I have.

I found this digging through some pics.
This is what it looked like when I spent about 3 hours cleaning it up because of the Pleco. This was a few months ago, so there are obviously more fish.

I was out for a few hours this evening, and I get home to find that the Blood Parrot was playing with the air tube. This wasn't unusual, as she's done this before. The problem was that she left the air stone beside the filter intake. This caused the filter to partially fill with air. The filter wasn't working properly since there was air inside of it, and it was also starting to overheat. The water in the filter felt rather warm, and I'm hoping the she didn't kill any bacteria.

I guess my Blood Parrot was either trying to entertain herself or piss me off... Either way she accomplished her goal.

She was trying to make sure your brain stays fit... Gotta keep that noggin working or you'll lose it, and what better way to work the brain than by filling a filter with air and potentially nearly burning your parents house down. :P

Remember to test your water daily and watch for spikes, with water changes when necessary. It may not have killed your bb, but better to be safe than sorry. :)

I don't need to test. I do daily 40s.

Fair enough.. I love my test kits so I'd test daily regardless. :D

Actually if doing daily water changes I'd test pH and nitrate before and after each water change (as I do) because my ocd likes to know what's going on in my tanks. :)

I add about 20ml of Seachem alkalinity buffer since my pH and KH come out of the tap pretry low. I've already done the math for everything. Alkalinity is 300 on strips (been a while since I've tested it with a bottle), and pH is 7.5.

I test PH daily with my pen (best investment) and nitrates weekly, but nitrates are always less than 10ppm with my current stock
