The warmouth has that markings on the face too, not surprised. So yeah I'm 110% sure that it is a warmouth.

Are you sure thats a warmouth? I thought a warmouth looked like this :D

Best pic I can get without taking him out. I don't want to because he finally settled in and is being active I don't want him to be scared and hide again. Btw tried adding a couple crayfish and 2 of the 4 made it to the bottom. Green sunfish he take the rest.

Ok he has red eyes. Automatically make him a rock bass? And I caught my first darter today! Rainbow darter to be exact. Tried a seign for 3 days couldnt catch any. Children's butterfly net from dollar general = WIN!

Its still hard to tell at this size and his current shade...both rock bass and warmouth have red eyes, they both have the black tip on their ear, both have huge mouths. The second photo to me looks like a Rock Bass, I have both Rock Bass and Warmouth in the same tank. Im also seeing small faded dots on his side rather than large blotches like the Warmouth has. The Rock Bass also had a more definite camo pattern than the warmouth does, even thou they both look camo :) By what you have posted, I'm going to say Rock Bass.
