New additions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think only the top guy will get his own tank. The others will get a shared tank with dividers. I wish I had enough space for each of these guys to have a tank of their own.

How big our your tanks? How much space does each fish get?

I have a 75 and 55 for these guys. I'll start by giving one the 55 to himself and divide the 75 between the 3. The other 3 will be moved to my 120 to grow out a bit. Once I know what I have I'll sell off what I no longer want and keep a male in the 75 and a female in the 55 and occassionlly add them together to see if I can get a spawn.

It appears that I have 4 males and two females. Just going on a hunch based on development of colors and Kok growth to this point. I’m torn between two different males on which I’d like to keep, but I’m going to give them some more time to develop before trading them in.
Three males are currently in a divided 55 gallon where they constantly spar with each other. Would this promote dominanace or possible just stress them out? I’m not sure if I could be causing more harm by dividing them instead of having them together and let them sort out their own hierarchy. There wasn’t much aggression prior to splitting them up.
I think I’ll like this setup much more once I get rid of one of these guys so each has half the tank. It seems a bit crowded even though they are still pretty small.

When raising multiple cichlids together they will establish a pecking order. The top one will bloom and the others will lag behind. When you remove fish and shake up the hierarchy the new dominant fish will bloom. The occasional spat through a divider is great, relentless fighting through dividers day and night is not. I would make your selections quickly and focus on them. Your water quality will be easier to keep stable as well.

What do you all think on this one...male or female? And wow, that flash really make those spangles glow.

Quite a difference in less than month. This is the same fish as the first pic on page 1 of this thread
