wow great work...Like this tank so much and im liking the simplebut very sharp look to it...maybe more plants in the future, you got the lighting for it but I love the clean look...Tell your wife nice rocking...I really liked the 1st one, seem to fit that corner well,
Are you planing any drift?
whats next?

Thanks, Passed on the msg to the wife. She loves it.
Still want to put another dozen or so smaller plants in the foreground, just to give it some colour.

No driftwood. I used to have a massive peice in my old tank. Just turned the water a tea colour, couldn't get rid of it. So this time round no drift wood at all. Even though I love the look of it.

Yeah, tha 1st rock has a really good shape to it.

Next on the list is to get it up to temp.
That should be done in the next couple of days, then add some fish next weekend to get the cycle started, while i'm down at the lfs I'll most likely grab those plants I mentioned to fill out the fore ground.

In the mean time I'll make a start on some of the cupboards.

:D

Cheers
Dan

Must remember to buy some Amazon Sword and Java Fern. Two of the best looking plants on the market.
Plants with a red colouration will contrast great against the green plants.

This is my Java Fern, old pic. Has grown about 80% in size since this pic.

Great start cant wait to see what's next!!!! Some close ups of the plants for proper id please??

Looking good BFT, Man you gotta have driftwood. There is wood out there that will not put tannins into the tank. try and look some up. I've made my own and have no problems (knock on wood) LOL

Dan, i would suggest if you really want big driftwood is to soak them for several weeks and changing the water 2x a week.

i have two big driftwoods and one medium one on my 180 gal tank... it does not stain it. now, i had to soak it for over 2 months and constantly changing the water on the bin (where it was soaked).

now, you need to know one thing though... i personally observed that drifwoods with plenty of holes and are not as solid as others produce more staining even after several time of soaking and washing.... unfortunately in my opinion some stain more than others specially if the are on a smaller tank. hope this helps.. only my personal experience.:)

looking great!!! are you planing to do some background at the back? i noticed two things on a store i went to, when they put a black tint it made the plants stand out and vibrant but made the tank look small. when they put blue it made the tank wide and big... just a thought. :)

Gotta have drift wood... all my store bought peices dont leak anything...

If you plan on keeping any plecos, they'll surely appreciate it too.

Looking awsome so far, that tank is going to rock :headbang2

One question, (I browsed through the above posts and didn't see the question), why did you choose to go with a glass tank over an acrylic?

Burt:)

Hang on there, angels are cichlids too ...

Hey dude, i know that! I was specifically talking about the discus, but fair point!

Angels and discus don't look like your "typical" cichlid, so a gud choice if you wanna pull the wool over the eyes of a cichlid hater! Heehee!

Keep up the good work....(!)
