yep seems to have some issues.. that looks to be a fungus/bacteria on the edge the disc :( not sure about the dark spot on the gill..

Salt, Heat, Cover the tank? Blackworms are your best bet..

a local raykeeper dude 'swears' the cure-all for ray bacterial infections was a product called 'Super Sulfa' (ex; triple sulfa), and he relieved rays from Death Curl with it.. I tried it and had success with fixing labored breathing.. might also help you with other issues.

Tough to tell though if meds will make it better or worse at this point..

thanks miles i agree
i was thinking of trying nitrofurazone but i don't have any on hand and the only place i could probably find this is a over priced shop i would spend i'm guessing $35 for 3 day treatment. pet shops are not the greatest here the hobby sure has died i think all the hobbyist are primarily on line any more? i will think of something i just hate to spend more money on this if it is too late. well i know i can afford salt, clean water,no light and a variety of foods at least.

update?

well day 7 things don't look to good no progress and doesn't appear to look any worse ether so that leads me to guess ammonia burn.if i am lucky she maybe eating blk worms but it has been hard to tell with gravel in the tank. found some old antibiotic paragon 2 and don't have enough for a full suggested treatment so we will see. she did make a couple deposits yesterday so that is a good sign. i am going to get a other heater today and get the tank up in temp highest it gets right now is 83 so i want to bring it up to 89 see what happens. i hate watching rays just waste away and die.

I know how you feel it really does suck just watching rays waste slowly away I just watched 2 slowly waste away...one of mine the female I watched her slowly die fighting the curl and contorting herself in all kinds of ways. Is she active? My opinion would be not to medicate I feel it would make it worse. Just keep the water clean and keep the tank dark. Good luck

hope she pulls through.... update doesnt sound like she will :( good luck john...

hears a little update on this girl. i could not believe it yesterday in the morning i tried to feed her some mazuri aquatic gel that i just made up. and to my surprise it disappeared she ate i could not believe it. i also picked up some more ghost shrimp sucked some of those down too. this is amazing! now hear comes the bad part i have had a couple issues with my canister filters there impeller have stuck a few times and sure enough had a problem with one of them last night. tried to fix it and broke a shaft on the impeller. tried to feed her this morning didn't eat tested water and sure enough ammonia spike 0.25 now i am not sure if i should leave her be fix the spike or move some fish around and put her in another tank? its always something
john

Great to hear she's doing well...just do a quick water change get a new filter later and switch out the media. don't move her might stress her out
