That is one great looking pup mate. Glad it pulled though for you, i know what a bum time you have had with pups in the past. Best of luck buddy.

very nice cross bred congrats Alan and finally it do it for you

Thanks guys..... Hopefully this is just a rough start when it comes to the blackies.

Jim, I can't help but keep thinking back to the very advice I gave you about appreciating the one that did make it, and the wishes you gave me that she goes strength to strength. Looks like she did, and I am very greatful. I have started out almost every day for the last week by waking up and heading straight down to feed her.

Seeing her tank sitting below my CB marble tank and knowing these rays got here because I haven't given up is the motivation that keeps me going..........

Can anyone tell me what the best way of getting an unproven male on the right track to proving himself? Does he need to be in with another male when the deed goes down and hope he catches on????

Congrats Al!
Great looking little lady you have there. Can't wait to see what that pattern develops into from the hen/leo x pearl combo.

Regarding the pups passing in the parents tank:
Whats the daily feeding frequency (for the adult rays) on the tank she was born in? I've been playing around with spacing out feedings: less food volume each serving, but feeding more often to ease stress spikes on the bio and dampen parameter fluctuations during & after each meal.

We know the BB colony can reproduce/decrease depending on bio load as long as there is available surface area on the bio media. But the more frequent feeding has allowed me to feed more total volume, with less variance from the expected tank parameters during & after meals. Only been experimenting with it and logging results for a few weeks, but that appears to be the trend so far.

Very nice!

I hear what you are saying mate. The first place i go in the morning (after the toilet lol) is to the tank. Not a day goes by that i don't appreciate what i have and not a day goes by that i don't think of what i have lost though either. I gives ou the strength and encouragement to carry on.
Sorry can't help regards getting a male to breed. Only ever had one breeder and as you know i sadly lost him. Putting him with another male may help though?

5 weeks......
