New baby girl

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you guys for the kind words! :)

She definitely changes. Will be neat to see if she ends up black and white. Lots of the spots are turning white in the center and the base is already darkening up a lot.....

She's proven to be quite the hand full as she seems to pick on whatever she's housed with. She's huge for her age - at 11 months she's already like 3 times the mass of some of my little cb Marbles that are pushing 3 years of age.

Gorgeous! How big is she at 11 months?

She's only 6-7" across but she's crazy thick...... Any ray her disk diameter looks like skin and bones compared to her.......

Great looking tank!
In the first and last pictures, what pimelodus catfish are those?

Thanks Jason! Cats are Ornate Pims..... Love these lil buggers. Not quite as active as spotted pictus, but hold up to rays much better then they do. Pretty slow growing and are supposed to max out under a foot..... Imagine crossing spotted and 4 line Pictus cats - these would be the result.....

Cool looking cats! I've got spotted pictus with my rays. Never have seen ornates for sale in this area.

Gotta say pretty awesome stock list in this tank! Besides the rays of course! Nice job Alan!

Thanks Scott.....

I can honestly say I spend more time in front of this tank then any other. The funny part is it never really seemed to work that well till most of "my" fish were removed from it. I still think my favorite part of this tank is those catfish, the way the whole group shares the driftwood hide with the knife - constantly jockeying for position.... Them long ol wiskers always on the move.

This tank to me represents a balance. Kind of like an Rx 7 I worked on last week - the thing had an LSX swap done and had solid motor mounts. Always hear "solid" is better - stronger. Well there is definitely a trade off as the poor car rattled so bad I thought the gauges were going to fall into my lap. Little balance like maybe some rubber mounts would have made the thing so much more civilized and tolerable - 2 traits I would have cared less about in the past, but half of enjoying this tank has been cause it's been so trouble free - something I'm NOT used to here at all with the fish I keep down in the dungeon. What I'm rambling about - Maybe change can be good? lol
