Nice catches.

Love baby turtles
Thanks MAC.I'm just having a problem getting the musks to take prepared.Looks like I'll have to try worms.Eventually would like them non-dependant on live.
The baby and juvie painted eat pellets well!

Try shrimp pellets, they sink and my Stinkpots love them.
Well, I'm using massivore now, but will try the shrimp pellets. I also am going to build a filter out of a five gallon water jug most likely, just the stinkpots make the water smell "interesting". Also, why do they sit underwater with their mouths open sometimes? Is this trap hunting like a ali snapper?

As for the 5 gallon filter, all I will do is pump water into the top, FILL the jug with bio (lava, brick scrubbies), and let gravity do the return.

Interesting, I've never noticed mine sitting underwater with their mouths open. They aren't like gator snappers and lack the worm "lure" but will grab stuff that swims into their mouths. Another thing that my baby stinkpots loved to eat were tiny pond snails.

you have the painted babies eating pellets already.. that is awesome... mine just want their bloodworms and baby brine... i add a couple of the reptomin in every night.. one or two pellets but they are always there in the am.. when i clean the tank.. i know when small they need protein more then anything... they are so adorable...never saw musk turtles before..hope they eat for you soon...

^^ Can you point me in the direction of a herp rescue near me?

As far as them drowning, even the smallest one swims right up to the rocks and hangs there and breathes. And when the painted gets too big I will simply give it it's own tub.Keep in mind these are very small turtles right now.

Hey attackfish, do the musk's like to eat off the bottom? With my water flow they'd never catch the reptomin!
Has Ive said before Ive never had a small one so I cant argue over that. I just folow the advice of some good sites;)

Also remenbar that all turts love ground up turkey and this is a food wich is very easy to include calcium suplements in:naughty:
