i just got a new peacock bass in a 30 gallon. the tank is a growout tank so im gona get a larger tank soon. the bass was doing fiine for 4 days. he ate about 10 feeder minnows everyday for 4 days. i cleaned the tank after every feeding. recently hes acting strange, he just lays there or floats up on the top. he hardly ever swims and his feeders became his tank mates. hes acting like this after i changed his filter from a aquaclear 30 to a penguin 350 and i added in this stuff called aqueon water clarifier, i had cloudy water.

what can be making him act this way.

try an air stone for extra oxygen during the water treatment. What is the current temp. Ammonia problems will cause cloudy water.

cant go wrong with an Aquaclear :D
he probably wants it back. :)
maybe the water clarifier

was the new filter brand new? if it is u could have throwen the whole tank into a new cycle..... just hope the little guy makes it....

Check your water params ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. Make sure you didnt hurt the bio filtration when you swapped filter. Good luck.

The filter change. Aquaclears are MUCH better than any other hang on back filter. Put it back on. Just leave both filters on the tank.

i put the filter back on and hes starting to swim again, but he still hasent got any of his colours back.

the filter was running on my moms tank. she has a 50 gallon with african cichlids and some scats. she 2 penguin 350s and then another aquaclear 70 so she let me have one of the penguins.
