new bass problems

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You shouldn't have any ammonia/nitrite in your water. I would use the original setup you had and definitely aerrate the water. I don't know what's in those clarifiers but its possible it's displacing oxygen and your guy is suffering as a result. I'd put the older filter back, add an airstone, and do daily 30% water changes and see if his condition improves.

for a south american young pbass those params are ouch...

how long has the tank been up with fish? And everyone is giving u good advise. With the new filter make sure u use old media or like was said run both filters don't mess with chems (water clarifier) simple water changes and fresh carbon sound help u out. Keep temp at 86 and make sure u have sufficiant airiation and like someone else mentioned get him another buddy (another cichla) and take it easly on the feeders cause u maybe getting ammonia spike from over feeding and waste good luck and keep us updated

Also do you have any cover in there with him

i cant get him a buddy because he was the only peacock bass i could find around my area. i put in a few large gold fish with him. i put the old filter back, i cant put the new filter because the back of my tank has no space for the 2 filters.

he got his colours back, but he hides alot and only flys out when i put in the feeders
i heard this is common in small pbass, true?

i reduced his feeders from 10 to 4 a day and i am doing a 10 percent water change everyday i am useing a maxijet 400 with the air flow attachment for air. i will be getting a pump and stone soon.

pictures will be up soon

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP EVERYBODY!
