if they are real cockatoos you better buy them all and resell them! you could make some serious cash. if......

Didn't realise a) There were so many types of cockatoos and
b) They cost as much as they do.

Well last night I did some more research on them all. I dont think I will get an african I read they get attached to one person and can be shy around others. Is that how yours acts? But I still really like the cockatoos but also macaws. Hoprfully this weekend I will be able to go to a birdstore and start findng one that fits my personality.

I went to one of the local bird stores around here today and they didnt have the best selection they did however have an eclectus there that I liked but I really dont know much about them. Are they a good bird to have?

im not sure, but arent palm cockatoos endangered??
No they arent (unless Im not updated and their status has worsed:confused:) the main thing that keeps their price in the many thousands is that they can no longer be exported from their native land of Australia (as well as most of aussis wild life) and so the only sorce of new animals is in captive breeding which even at full power is slow. They are big birds ,slow to develop ,mature ,pair ,the chicks are very dependent of parents for a long time, etc. This means that at most only a hand full are avaible each year. They were rare to begin whit and this keeps the price really high.
