That's exactly what I used... it also has gold particales in it .. that make it look really pretty.... you can see it pretty good in this pic..

I really enjoy it.. although it took 40lbs for my 40B.. well that's because I like it to be a little thick.. and it's about 1 1/2 - 2" or so.. it also took me an hour and a half to really get it clean.. even then the water was still a little cloudy... but my morning it was almost gone... I also like the fact that the particles are large enough to not float around.. and if I need to rearange or whatever else.. it settles immediately...I will definitely continue to use it in future projects... Sorry can't remember the name.. but if your really interested in knowing the brand I'll find it for you.

Hey Mike, did you use the finer or coarser particles??
I used the fine, it took till the next day for it to settle and I am very happy with it,one 50lbs bag was just right for my 140gl tank,to the op I would stay away from the moon sand as it is way to light and floats away no matter what you do

I love it, best sand there is, fish look great over it, they love to dig in it, plants grow in it, no down side except if it get sucked into your filter but I always use sponge Pre-filters on my filter intakes... BTW, Tahitian moon sand is much heavier than normal sand and it doesn't have to be washed, i use the sugar sized moon sand.

I'm not a big fan of Tahitian moon sand. I set up my dad's 100 gallon tank with it last December. It's pretty rough too...

If you want plants I'd go for the flourite black sand. I have it in my 33 gallon.. Does a great job with plants (it better! Since it's made for them...) and is a lot softer than TMS.

Either way, whoever said to WASH IT is absolutely right. Both brands are beyond "dirty."
