New blood parrot very scared

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The shyness will mostly wear off. If you're familiar with habituation, its a mechanism whereby an organism gradually stops reacting to a stimulus when its clear that it doesn't present a danger, for example rain hitting a snail, might curl up the first few times; then becomes used to it and ignores the pattern.

In the case of your BP, he will crap himself a good few times he sees you, but rapidly you'll be associated with food so its only a matter of patience, young grasshopper

This makes a lot of sense. I remember your theory being applied when I had my betta back as a little kid. Somehow he grew used to it, habituation must be

Maybe I'm worrying too much but he's not recovering even with the lights off for a few hours. Actually he's lying on his side again, and this time it's not just cause I'm around. I just can't believe an inanimate object is making my fish scared sick

get a picture of the bahviour. Dude that sucks if your new fishy is sick.

I check params, all were exactly what he needed, despite the NTS, but it's probably cause I've been dosing BB. It's no coincidence that he was acting this way before I got him his favorite flower pot, now that I added a big change to his tank he's acting the same exact way again. I just don't know if his behavior has a breaking point, and I don't know if finding out will risk his life.

You are just worrying a little much, just stress it can take weeks for a fish to settle properly. Just give it time and unless it's showing physical signs of illness it's most likely fine

Strange... I notice whenever I've had one BP alone they always always hide and never come out, only at night. I currently have 2 and they are always active. Try getting another for him maybe that will help.

This was him minutes before I added the drift wood

This is him a few minutes after introducing drift wood, obviously his skittish behavior was back since u can see he's behind the filter

No matter how dramatic this looks, I'm telling you that he was EXACTLY like this on his first night in, from being stressed. Now the wood is doing the same thing to him. Maybe I should take it out
