The shyness will mostly wear off. If you're familiar with habituation, its a mechanism whereby an organism gradually stops reacting to a stimulus when its clear that it doesn't present a danger, for example rain hitting a snail, might curl up the first few times; then becomes used to it and ignores the pattern.
In the case of your BP, he will crap himself a good few times he sees you, but rapidly you'll be associated with food so its only a matter of patience, young grasshopper

Maybe I'm worrying too much but he's not recovering even with the lights off for a few hours. Actually he's lying on his side again, and this time it's not just cause I'm around. I just can't believe an inanimate object is making my fish scared sick

I check params, all were exactly what he needed, despite the NTS, but it's probably cause I've been dosing BB. It's no coincidence that he was acting this way before I got him his favorite flower pot, now that I added a big change to his tank he's acting the same exact way again. I just don't know if his behavior has a breaking point, and I don't know if finding out will risk his life.
