Can't really tell from those pics sorry. Just so you know cyrtocara moorii AKA blue dolphins are haps. Also younger fish I find tend to be more colorfull than the adults in this species. They tend to fade and get lighter as they get older. That is a male in my avitar and he is pretty light.

ahhh.. boy do i feel silly. i didn't know they were a type of hap.
yea, well it's pretty bright right now. and yours looks really nice btw.
and what does this whole IMO thing i'm seeing lately mean? lol...

It means in my opinion (IMO)

The Males have pointed anal fins and the females are round. I've sexed them like this and I always get a pair.

First off my male is close to 9in and my female is about six. They are in a 90gl right now and my rocks are all piled up in the left and right coners of the tank. That way the little fish have a place to hide and the bigger fish just swim around in the open areas. I have playsand as a substrate. I really didn't do anything special that I know of. The male just found a spot in the right corner of the tank and he just built a little nest and brought the female over and they spawned in the pit he made. Now they spawn about every 60 days for me and produce any where from 60 to 150 fry. They biggest thing about getting them to spawn IMO is there age and size. My male is about 4 and my female about 2 1/2 years old. I never saw any signs of spawning till about a year ago and since then they haven't stopped, and produce fry like crazy. They only thing I can figure is that yours may not be mature and big enough or old enough. That would be my guess. I hope this helps and best of luck to you.

Thanks for the info but mine are at least that big.

I don't really know why they wouldn't have spawned yet then. Especially since they are n a 300.

well that doesn't help much for me.. i mean.. i already knew that. but what i was asking is if anyone could help tell the sex at such a young age. lol. i'm just too impatient to wait for it to grow up and see.

I'm talking at a young age too. I sex mine out at around 2 inches. Go check out a tankful of young Moori's and if you look close you'll see that some are pointed and that some are round. Works every time.

Thats not always true though. The female that I have that is 6in has pointed fins.

My female has a pointed dorsal and anal fin.
