Hi,
i think you got the information from here :
http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/Snakehead_circ_1251/html/channa_stewartii.html if you have a look about the Native range :
Endemic to Brahmaputra (upper, middle, lower) River basin of India and Bangladesh, and the Ganges River basin from southern Nepal southeastward (Sen, 1985; Talwar and Jhingran, 1992; Musikasinthorn, 2000). In southern Nepal, it occurs in the Kamala, Bagmati, Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali River basins (Shrestha, 1990).
And here : Sen and Dey (1984) recorded this species from altitudes above 1,500 m in Meghalaya, a plateau north of Bangladesh and south of the Brahmaputra River, India.
the Brahmaputra is the same river where Aurantimaculata came from...and Aurantimaculata need cold temperature.
Because of the large distributation of the species there are some diffrent color morphes like : True Blue, Spec. Himalaya (the name says it already COLD), Green and the ;Meghalaya Leopard,Blue Moonbeam Galaxy Snakeheads , are all Channa stewartii this was verified by DNA testing by : Dr. Prachya Musikasinthorn (i read it in another Forum from someone who knows what he is talking about!)
Trust me your SH is a Stewartii (dont know exactly which but defentely a Stewartii and they are not winter hibernators but need colder temps. at december,January like Aurantimaculata to breed them, a friend of mine breeds them.
