I started building a new canopy for my 180 gallon tank. My old one is falling apart due to design flaws. This new one is made of an 1X1 frame and will be skinned with 3/4 inch plywood with a 1/2 inch top. This will have 4 doors 2 on each 6foot side. As you can see my tank is in the middle of the room so I don’t want it to have a front and a back so it will be symmetrical all the way around.

Progress is slow on this but I will update as we go.

Im not eather. Nor do I have the time to do this so it will be a slow build. I am hoping to work on it tomorrow but it may be this weekend before i get back to it. I will update with better and more interesting pix!

I got all the corners mitered and fitted up. The door openings are still not cut and the sides are not connected to the frame. I still need to water seal the inside of the skin before it is attached.

This is a test of the router bit I chose that will be used all the way around the canopy on the top and bottom edge as well as around the doors.

Let me know what you think so far?

More progress on Monday!

I am still working on this. I will have pix tomorrow for the two people that are interested.

Wow looks great so far. I just finished building a canopy for my plywood tank that I just finished. Mine is no where near as nice as yours. Keep up the good work, and keep the pictures coming.

Nice start. Now how about those pics!
