Anyone find or rescue a cat/dog lately? I swore to myself I wouldn't get anymore animals until I was actually in a position to do so and now here I am with another cat.
She's an older cat (aged between 2-5 by the vet and looks to be 3-4) missing all her lower incisors, has a few notches in her ears, scars on her nose and missing fur. When I first found her and brought her home she was very loving, constantly did biscuits and didn't even struggle at the vets office when they shaved her belly to see if she had a spay scar. I expected her personality to change a bit but not flip. She's now aggressive towards me and the bf and has attacked us a few times.
This isn't something I would ordinarily worry about, as I've had feral/stray cats before that were hard to handle but eventually found their niche in my home, so I know how to read their behavior and gauge how a cat is. The aggression she shows is not fear aggression or out of pain like it is for Ninja, the biter in the house who doesn't like his back to be touched but just plain old aggression. The problem is I'm 7 months pregnant with my first child and I don't want to take any risks with the baby.
Don't get me wrong I'm not one of those type of people who get rid of their pets because they're having a baby but I didn't bring her home with the set intentions of keeping her. I guess I was just so excited about helping her that I didn't put much thought into all the possibilities that could surface and feel like in a way I have failed. I know that sounds silly, because if I'm doing what's best for her, like finding her a great home that's not failing her but in my mind it is because I could provide a great home for her if I wasn't so worried about things going wrong. Maybe things will work out. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?
Few days after being here.

With some tlc she's gained weight and looks better.
