The eyes on the shovelnose are crazy... They're the coldest looking blue i've ever seen.
You must have not seen / owned a wyckii aka Crystal blue eyed catfish :)

I can make out the hints of the usual pattern in the TSN, it appears that just melanin distribution is abnormal - too much of it in the dark areas and too little where the lighter color should be.

This case is similar to this orca-looking IDS (note it also has some orange in the fins), and similar tropical gar and a channel catfish: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...DS-a-striking-freak-of-nature!&highlight=orca

Haha. I've owned a Wyckii but only a 10" specimen... the eyes on this shovelnose are alike ot them.

Stunning Pati Liam...love that Cat.
When I was your age this species was unavailable, probably unknown. It has the body of a Calophysus (Vulture cat) and the mouth of a Brachyplatystoma tigrinum (formerly M. tigrinus)...bizarre Cat, great looker!

The eyes on the Shovelnose (Pseudoplatystoma sp) from what I can see look like cataracts on the cornea rather than being blue. Not a criticism more of an observation.

Congratulations on a fine collection.
