some butterfly fish and a black ghost knife fish... tiger barb shoal and a nice small plec! what about an exodon tank?

Don't discourage the catfish idea :). Just kidding bro, everybody has made good suggestions, although I can't really say that since it isn't my thread.

Nothing like estrogen to get the populace of the forum excited.

If you have managed your bigger tank, you can manage your smaller tank; just with different fish.

I like the planted idea, but you'll need to look into lighting and fertilization pending the plants and fish. I like schooling tetras + smaller peaceful loaches if you are allowed to have them.

Unfortunately the 158 gal tank is my housemates- and he always just looks after the important stuff when it comes to keeping the fish alive and healthy. (Mainly the frikkin budget- because it hasn't been a cheap hobby so far!!) *shudder* (lol just remembered the 2 separate occasions we had 300 litres/ 80 gallons flood through the entire house... Ugh) *shakes fist*

So yeah, I pretty much did the research stuff and hands on decorating stuff- which can be tedious in a tank that size- I assure you! So now I kind of need to acquire all the opposite skills, and then I will be INVINCIBLE!! MUAHAHA!!
*ahem* something in my throat there, sorry bout that.

So scrap the turtle, he's dumb... And the octopus and jellyfish can go back in the filing cabinet for later.
What's the catfish all about then? Are they Pleco? If they're the same fish, then there's one actually in the big tank I completely forgot about. Lol. I think he's good at hiding living amongst Mangrove Jacks and Barramundi's. He's just a really common, brown, spotty lookin thing- possibly even called a common bristle nose or something like that? And GREAT SUGGESTION! I forgot all about those little sucker faced bottom feeders!

There's some seriously wicked looking plecos- totally collectible lol.
I remember eyeballing a cool zebra patterned one a while back on google and another that almost looked like flames... Very very awesome!

I got news for you, the farther you get into the hobby the more money you're going to be spending on it :)

oh so you like plecos? And yes plecos are loricariids which are catfish. Personally I'm more into the larger, non sucker mouth catfish that make more of a mess than clean messes up but that's just me. Look into pimelodids as well, they're very interesting cats.
