Don't feed them live feeder fish. Keep them on pellets!

what makes you say that? pellets aren't anymore healthy

he was meaning bout parasites etc... but im using home grown = ) is like market frozen shrimp good for them?

market shrimp is good, earthworms, good pellet for a staple if the guppies are home bred iguess they would be ok but from what i understand they dont pack much nutritional value also feeding live may raise aggression. i also try to add some greens once or twice a week my jd likes peas but ive never owned oscars or gts so wait for some more replies

Doesnt feeder fish cause more aggression in the tank? At least thats what ive been told. I dont do it just for that reason alone. Anyone care to expand on this?

prawns and shrimp along with crabs will make the red and oranges on the fish stand out more. earthworms are great. i have heard that if you feed the feeders bloodworms it is like super feeding the cichlids.just what i have heard i dont do it but i might if it works.

im not going to lie to you im growing them out in a 55 im upgrading to a 110 that i found on craigslist i feel peoples hate towards overcrowded fish tanks but i adopted a tiger oscar in a 20 high ! nd he was healthy intill the filter died nd ive seen 3 tigers in a 30 all at least 12 inches healthy
Just because people cram three 12" fish in a 30gal. doesn't make it right or good fish keeping practice. I'm sure very few people who read this thread will deny that. I think that in the long run having your chosen stock with their potential adult sizes in a 110 is not going to work out. That's a small tank for that many big fish especially with the amount of waste that Oscars produce. Then you will have to deal with the aggression that will surely arise between the cramped GTs. Knowing how sensitive these guys are as grow outs it would be terrible to have them grow to a decent size just to have them damage each other or worse. All overstocked tanks are not created equal. Just because you see other people pull it off, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will work with your chosen fish in your tank's size. You will do what you consider best but I think it's horrible to cram large cichlids in tiny tanks.

im still sayin u will need a bigger tank for those fish man. an i guess ppl agree with me.

That will be too many fish in the long run. The GTs will take well over a year to reach 8+ inches, and it is not uncommon for them to reach 10".

I see a lot of problems with this. I am not an expert on Os but unless they are a pair I believe it is best to keep 1 or in groups of 4+ or they will just pick on each other. Also you would need a bigger tank than a 110 for a pair of Os.

GTs (especially males) will not tolerate other GTs of the same sex and although they are relatively peaceful as get larger their aggression will go up.

If I were you I would keep 1 O and GT (For best results 2 males), and then add maybe a school of larger schooling fish, nothing that would fit in the Os mouth.
