Go to a crawfish restaurant and ask for 1lb of crawfish but ask for it live. It's like $8/$9 cheap. Put one in and watch the puffer go to work. It's awesome to watch your puffer avoid the claws and attack the tail strategically. Really unique puffer--great pickup.

Ya i don't see how there is anyway that is a fahaka, even just the shape of it's mouth... if anything it's a hybrid fahaka/cross river or fahaka/mbu (judging by the odd shape of the beak i wouldn't be suprised if it was fahaka/mbu) Def a great buy!
Fahaka & mbu don't cross breed. Of course your vendor is going to tell you that, he wants your $$$! Considering the puffers in the link I gave you probably cost $700-$1,000, you still got a good deal for a very pretty puffer.
Yes, you can feed just about anything fishy you can buy at the produce store, just freeze (to kill off any nasties) & defrost in tank water with liquid vitamins.

Very nice rarer puffer...regardless. It is no way a pure fahaka in my opinion. Good pick up at a good price IMO. Definitely looks cross-riverish!
IMO this is a CRP. Whether the CRP is a variant of the Fahaka or not is immaterial. This is a good example of what is considered a Cross River Puffer. Nice find!!
