Way too low ph for haps. Most of them like 8s. I bet you could find some that would live however.

You could do a ton of different bigger American cichlids. Besides price the struggle with discus is water parameters, especially with ph. If your normal tank is 6 I'd say try discus. Lots of mildy aggressive other cichlids would work too. I have a blackbelt and as Oscar with my poly living fine, had severums in there too until the blackbelt killed them. You could also go with datnoids as well.

Sevrums are nice. Nice color. Haven't seen many in my LFS tho and dats I've come across are dark. I've seen smaller far lighter ones with dark markings, if I come across one like this ill pick it up.

Do large Severums and geos.

Liking the dats and sevrums as stated a friend I got polys from awhile back had nice dats and a red sevrum I always tried to buy from him. As far as geos and the above mentioned cichlids someone mentioned, the look too "normal" for my liking. I like oddball weird shaped fish tho cichlids n geos have color they just don't draw me towards them.

Forget rays with angels my ray killed them she just ate There heads it don't matter if they don't fit in there mouth they will still kill them eventually same goes with discus plus discus have been know to pick at rays a good mix with rays would be indo tiger dats they are nocturnal aswell so don't go docile when the lights go out. Either keep a small group or just 1 but try to get dats that are a good size like 4 inch plus if your going to put them with a baby ray because data tend to be slower growers than rays this gives them a good head start but there is no definite guarantee rays can strike just when u think all is good.

Forgot to mention the ray is about 10" across disk. Still recommend the 4" dats? Or go larger to start?

Jeff raps has rotkeils and super red severums both of which are very nice. I had rotkeils and they are awesome ounces they get colored up. Super reds are cool too. I there are turquoise and gold as well.

The thin bar dats are cheap and much more common than the widebar dats. They grow slow so bigger ones will cost a bit regardless of type. Big widebars are upwards of 700-1000$. I do not know about the darkness fading or what, check on the dat forum.
