My new simplistic layout. will be adding more plants and attempt to grow moss on the DW once i figure how too. Any suggestions are welcomed.

If you spread the sand across the bottom of the tank but still kept the sand hill in the corner. I'll just paint what my "personal" opinion is.

This way the fish have cover around and near the drift wood with lots of tall plants etc and they have open swimming space and the rock on the otherside is to make it all intertwine so its not just an negative space.

dam you got some art skills:) That was what i was thinkin about doing actually. i did have a rock there before on the bare side but didnt look right to me but with sand and plants around it would look right and blend well. only reason i have it bare is alot of discusXperts(diehard fanaticals) recommend barebottom but i could never do just barebottom to dull and i dont think fish would ever enjoy that so i decided half and half and the flipside is litterally takes me half a minute to suck out the shiznit since it lays it that one corner on the bare side.

i actually like it! as far as growing moss goes, you can tie some java moss or equivalent to the driftwood. after time, it'll attach itself. just keep in mind that moss does capture a lot particles (ie. food and poo) so it might make cleaning a bit harder..atleast in my experience in my discus tank

Whatever is more convenient for you i took the substrate out of my Oscars tank cause i was sick of cleaning it. It will look good as it is just draw all the attention to the drift wood and add some moss.

nice tank would look awsome as a reef
