New discus set up- rate it up

I would go totally bare bottom tanks with discus...cleaning is a lot easier and I've found with my discus, they thrive with daily or every 2nd day of at least 50% water changes....like the driftwood

Actually with the sandy hill all the waste ends up in the Bare side so i can litterally suck out the poop within seconds as opposed to having it completely bare and the waste is scattered. with juvies to grow them out its better bare but with adults you can have them in fully decorated tanks and fully planted since they can tolerate lesser water quality. you can also have success with juvies in fully planted graveled tanks but its just alot more maintanance. Tank to me is too boring without any decor and gravel and fish swim aimlessly with BB tanks. My big albino luvs to chill on flat area of my sandy hill and take laps swiminn around the Log.
