the woman that owens the tank that i posted earlier wrote me back this

Hi Justin. You sound so excited, I hope this works out for you. First, the top. This light fixture would not fit on correctly with the top, so I halved it. The light goes over the back of the tank, but it's not a tight fit. I have regular cover glass for the front. I can look around to see if I have the rest of the top glass, but you won't be able to use it and the lighting.

It makes me sick to say that most of the plants have died. About 3 weeks ago someone said they wanted the tank, so I rushed around to find someone to take my fish. I had to pull almost everything out to catch the fish. Between not using the light regularly since the fish are gone and a haphazard transplant, almost nothing made it. I worked so hard to get that beautiful planted tank! I'm happy to have placed the fish, but I felt almost as strongly about the plants. It was like a garden that it took me 3 years to grow, and now in a matter of weeks it's gone...

Anyway, I'd love for my tank to go to someone who really wants it, so how about a deal? The substrate I have in there is great for plants and was really expensive so I haven't wanted to clean the entire tank out spotless. The wood and rocks also have some plants growing from them which I think looks really cool (I'm hoping to be able to salvage some of it). Normally if I was selling a tank I would empty everything out, clean it spotless and give you a sparkling pristine tank. This one isn't. The filter could use a good cleaning, I have some algae growth on the side since the fish have gone and the whole thing could really use a once over with some fish-friendly cleaner. I'll sell you the tank emptied of water, with the substrate - it's called eco-complete - the rocks, driftwood, filter, stand, heater, lighting and all the other "fish stuff" I have for $150 if you don't mind doing the cleaning. I'll clean the tank out some and wipe down the inside, but I'll leave the inside of the filter and any stubborn algae to you. Let me know if that sounds good. If you'd rather I can entirely clean it out and sell you an empty (but clean ) tank and put the substrate in a bag or something for you. I'll still include all the same stuff (just cleaned) for the $200. Let me know...

Also, how close are you to Goshen? If you aren't too far, we have a pickup, but you'd have to drive here to help my husband load it (too heavy for me). Then we could drive it home for you. If you're well outside of Litchfield County, though, I don't think I could get my husband to agree (some spouses just don't get fish!).

I'll look forward to hearing back from you

Thinking about getting out of cichlids and South Americans. I'd like to sell everything in a group so I can dedicate my tank to a fahaka. Current list follows:
Breeding pair of Chocolate cichlids, 3 8" Geophagus sp. (dicrozoster?), 6 silver dollars (2 maculatus, 4 argentae between 3-5") about 14-15 corydoras ( mixed green aneus, panda and metae). Chocolates have fry that you can have, largest silver dollar is scattering eggs, 2 of the Geos are pairing up and at least 2 corys are laying eggs. Asking $100 for the whole lot, I'll seperate but I'd rather do the whole thing as a group. Anybody want to buy the bunch and sell them off seperately is welcome.

So far lovely pets in Quincy has the cheapest price for my new tank. I just have one more place to get a price from, then its a matter of who has the best offer. :nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::headbang2

what exactly is an overflow? i saw that in the build an aquarium on petcos site. whats the actual point of it. my dad has that on his saltwater tank
