Happy belated birthday. I've never been into the Black shark, although have driven by a few times.

Thank you. Its worth a look. Just to give you a heads up the owner will talk your ear off. If I remember correctly hes selling pbass for $9. He's going to have 8 different types of loaches and 3 types of discus. I did hear him talking to a coustomer and he said plants were a waist of time because they die with in a week.

*yawn* Mornin'...is it Friday yet?

I picked up 100 lbs of tomatoes on Sunday, and every night this week, I'll be making and canning sauce...kinda sucks. I work all day, only to go home and cook. But, it'll all be worth it in January when I'm curling up on the couch with a bowl of pasta and homemade sauce.

In fish news, my DIY stand for my 210 is done, ready for varnish. Later, it will be nicely skinned with plywood and doors and such. But, for now, I've got to get the tank up and running.

Pictures please!...would love to see it ;)

Morning Everyone,

I am at work (really shouldnt be here right now :naughty:), so I probably will not reply to anyone until tonight. But here is the deal, by the way I plan on posting this exact post on the "tank setup and filtration" section of this site.

Last night I brought home a new tank (new to me). It is a 125 and Iam very excited! I havent decided how I will stock it but I am pretty sure that it will not be a predator tank. To messy. So here is my first dilemma and I am sure it wont the last. I need help with filtration. Right now I have a new Marineland 360 canister. It is rated at 360 gph for tanks up to 100gal. Because of finances this has to be my main filter. Now what to go with this? I have on hand two cascade 700's rated at 185 gph for tanks up to 65gal. I also have one AC110. Now can any of these successfully work together to keep this tank nice and clean? I know people are out there dying to advise me to get an FX5 or even two of them. It's not going to happen. Just two expensive right now. So please help me out within my budget.

I guess what I am wondering is can two filters rated for 55 gal tanks be of any use on a 125?

Thanks everyone............................rick
Thanks

Of course if an FX5 is the only real way to go, then I may have to do that.

Ricky the canister you got right now ( marineland and cascades and AC110) would do perfectly fine. It just take them for them to cycle up and make your tank crystal clear. Of course if you put some messy eater fish and over stock you will need more and better filter. At this poin your current filter will work best.

the marineland and how many of the others?

as much as you can put and fit in there :D

IMO 2 AC, 2 Cascades, and a marineland 360 is plenty for 125g...
