PVC pipes
PVC elbows and "T" fittings
You can put more "T" fittings and pipes as desired but here is the concept.
As well as using just powere heads, or an air tube down the Vetical PVC pipe and sponges to get a sponge filter type filtration ( this is nice if there is a power outage and you have a back-up batery powered air pump).

I've made several similar setups over the years, so I speak from experience on this one. Water takes the path of least resistance. With all the holes in the bottom pieces there will be virtually no incoming pressure at the ends with the sponges. Less holes in the long runs would work better BUT any small debris falling into the bottom PVC tubes will be sucked directly into the impeller of the powerhead. Other than that it's a good example of a laminar flow setup.

I built a setup years ago using two Sterilite containers on a 75G tank, drilled both tops and put two fittings one side of each box, plumbing two canister filter intakes to one box and two canister outputs to the other. On the intake side I filled the box with floss as a pre-filter. By putting them sideways on each end of the tank I got a strong one-way flow with an easy to clean pre-filter that had a strong current with minimal swirling and eddying currents.
Here's an example made with my mad paint skillz.

.

I was thinking that too.

just wanted to say we in VERMONT are also part of new england and MAINE also holds stathood in new englad.us in vermont are always forgot about ive met people who cant locate it...sad:confused:

Not many MFK'ers from Maine on here... Vermont is a beautiful state as well. One of my high school friends is a state trooper in Vermont, although he and his wife don't have any monster fish.

I hope to meet other New England fish keepers someday (only one so far is AJ):)

Yes, that's a great idea!

thanks for the fish guys, i hate to say it though, but the big sev is not looking so well.

aj i put your fish in with my 14" oreochromis and 8"fh, and my oreo decided to attack my fh instead of the newcomers, ( he did try the pike once but he showed the tilapia whos boss)

anyways, i have an oreochromis mossambicas fs or trade, he is a perfect speciman, just too ornary, i have him in a 55g right now alone.

sticky i think those cats are a little bigger than 3 in, lol
