i have a 30 gallon filter on a 29 :( all i know is i dont want them to suffer. they are about to be piranha food. id rather have t hem killed like that t hen suffer. but i dont wanna get the piranha sick either.........

What are ALL your water parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, GH and KH? Just HOW MUCH salt did you "dump" into your tank? Did you add wild caught fish to this tank too?
You really NEED to do more reading on fish diseases, quarantining and specific fish requirements before just jumping into stuff with both feet.
Many of the people on here were keeping fish before the internet was even available and learned how to keep things in good shape the old fashioned way, by reading actual books and learning by trial and error. Right now, you are going through an error phase. Learn from it and make a commitment to STUDY up on fishkeeping and diseases, don't just dump thing togethere and hope for the best.
If someone gives you advise, ask them WHY this might work and what the time-frames for it are. Do things slowly and have patience.

It may be at this point you need to HUMANELY euthanize all the fish in your diseased tank, clean the tank with a bleach and water solution and rinse it out well and then do a fishless cycle to to re-establish the tank and then ONCE IT'S CYCLED ask for some stocking advise and FOLLOW IT. Then you can learn how to properly take care of fish and enjoy the hobby and not stress out about it. It's not rocket science or brain surgery but it does need some knowledge that only time and a willingness to learn will give you.

Take offence at this or don't, I care about the fish, not your feelings. Ask anybody here that's met me. I'm a decent guy but I WILL tell it like it is.

i have never had very good luck with butterfly fish,I think they need a variety of bugs to keep them strong?

Ive had decent luck with the 3 ive had, only feeding them cichlid flake, freeze dried bloodworms an plankton with a lil bit of krill.

I have a fluval 403 (rated for up to 100 gal tanks) on my 29, stays crystal clear.
