it was under $250 for the tank , top w/light, oak stand, gravel, a bottle of stress coat, a heater and aplicable sales tax. It has an old filter on it for the moment, I ordered a Magnum H.O.T. online for $47.99 with free shipping. It has become my favorite tank.

just because people do it doesn't mean it's the best thing for the fish. that is a very nice looking fish but I agree that the tank size is not adequate for such a large fish. personally I hate hex and corner tanks becuase their odd shape takes away valuable swimming space. sure, 50ish gallons of water might be ok for that size fish, but a rectangular tank of the same gallonage would be much better because it would have more swimming room. just my 2 cents.
