They are slow growers, but it's worth the wait. This guy's almost 3.

They can be such obnoxious jerks. You have to admire that.:)

Beautiful fish.. Nice deep colors.

Very nice FMs! I almost got FMs before I got my first little EBJD. If I ever get sick of my EBJDs I'll be getting some FMs!

I'd love to get an EBJD... Do you recon they won't mix with FMs?

Beautiful young FMS. It's a shame they're such slow growers.

For the first year they can shot up to 3 - 4 inches then slow down. Only the oldest fish attain their 6 inch status

Thanks, I was in the shop about 30mins studying them before buying six... The shop owner wasn't that impressed I was so particular about which ones I was picking. One specimen (that had a damaged dorsal fin was chosen purely because his reds seemed to carry on more up the cheeks than the other fish. He is also a lot thinner and runter but I'm thinking ahead. Its their children I want to raise. These ones are there as the initial breeding stock.;) They are now being fed up and grown on to see how their colors develop etc.

Answer.. YES... EBJDs do mix with Firemouths :nilly:

This specimen... Male or Female could develop a lot of red in the cheeks.

Nice!

The FM I have with the extra red coloring and the damaged Dorsal seems to be constantly bullied, so I think I'll move him to his own tank and rear him on seperately... I really need to see where this little guy goes... he could poses some valuable Genes.
