I've had my eye on this guy for a few weeks and finally brought him home a few days ago. He's slowly coming around to the new tank and today he's been real active so I snapped a few pictures. Nothing special, but if anyone wants to take a guess as to the actual species, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

No way to tell really(expect dna testing) but looks Midas to me?

I would say Amphilophus Citrinellus also. Nice looking fish too.

Not muh experience with sa cihlidsBesides convicts so no idea but I thought it was a not red Midas at first haha

Mostly likely a midas since its the most passed around barred variant of amphilophus but it could be any of them. Doesn't really matter when you know you've got a amphilophus you know you've got a monster.

Glad you got this fish Mike.

Here's a picture I posted when we first got him in at the store.

The kid that brought him in to me said he won him at an auction and the person he got him from claimed it was a newly described species of Amphilophus and called it a false Red Devil. Hopefully when he gets bigger we'll be able to tell.
