bad idea with the armatus/sturgeon mix. armatus should be in very warm, oxygenated water.

those two things dont ussually go together.....warm water (by the laws of physics) naturally has far less saturated oxygen than colder water. but yes, both the armatus and the sturgeon (paddlefish too) want highly oxygenated water (which i am providing via 2 hob filters allowied to crash onto the surface). the temperature is a happy medium (this is my first armatus, tho i have kept every other payara save wallaci in the past) between the sturgeons temperature range and the armatus. i belive this has potentail to work long term....

could work out...i'd be worried about the sturgeon more than the rest, but eh...
gl!
and nice fish!

me too, at this temperature both the sturgeon and paddlefishes nutritional needs are exasterpated. but ive kept sturgeons at this temp in the past with no issues.

thanks for the concerns :)

UPDATE!

so today just for kicks i tried to get the paddle to eat something other than the normal filter mix i had prepared (diced market shrimp silversides and mysis) and stuck a silverside head on a stick....and he ate it.....

so i have a silverside eating paddlefish :) one of the major hurdles for this species has been breached :) in under 24 hours :)

Very nice collection Wonder. I see you're setting up the pond for your sturgeon when it's bigger. What about the black such as when you're bored of it? :D

hahaha. someday man, i told you. you got dibs if/whenever i move him :naughty:

Very cool man. I don't think I ever saw anyone housing a paddlefish in their home aquarium!!!! True exotic to me. Are you sure the Armatus will be ok? They are prone at young ages for disease and I am sure cooler water isn't going to help. I am sure you know all of that and probably have a good backup plan. I was just curious.
