Nice gar! I have a Florida Gar that I've had for over 8 years and he's my most favorite fish.

Did you have any problems getting him to eat? Mine haven't eat anything yet.

when I got my gar, I only offered live food a couple of times with no interest. Then he would only eat a couple of pellets here and there and then around 2 months later he became a eating machine, he out pigs my oscars easy.

so I say just give him time and he will come around.

When I bought my gar he was fed live food as well but after a few months I got him onto Hikari Cichlid Gold. Basically now he'll eat anything I drop in the tank: thawed shrimp, crickets, earthworms, Massivore and 3 types of Hikari pellets. The only thing he won't eat anymore are the feeder convict cichlids that I raise, lol.
