:( New fish just died...wtf

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Once again, sorry for you loss, but in this hobby it can happen at any time, and often too.

Well, I'm gona make it happen less often for me now. I'm bringing in all the tanks like i said before and building them stands, The 4 outside have goldfish in them ( i'll put them into the 450 to help cycle) Than i'm gona take out the media throw it away put a sponge or how ever many i can fit into it. And I will re start the cycle on those 4 tanks. I will also paint the back and sides black and get a light and hood for them. Each of those tanks has 2 H.o.b for them.

Trying to decide if i should add an air bubler to each also... I might be over reacting just because a fish died but I will try my best not to have another die. so far i have 8 things on my list and all of which are probably gona be around 200$ in total.

But its well worth it to ensure my fish are happy and live long.

Once my tank outside cycles, I will move every fish exsept my 2 dats and put them into the 450. Than i will have 2 dats in my 120gallon. Also I will be looking to buy more dats as i wait for my royal plecos and smaller Pbass to grow once they get big enough not to get eaten by the dats they will go into the 120gallon also. than the smaller tanks will be grow outs.

Glad to see you are going to take the extra steps to keep your fish in as good an environment you can provide. I remember the first fish I lost all those years ago. It was only a neon tetra, but I felt bad, and took steps to try to keep that to a minimum. 18 years later I'm still keeping fish, and in far greater numbers.

From my P.M.'s , there were a few things Milkman did wrong.
1, he did a 40% water change right befor the fish arrived
2 he dripped the fish into a 5 gal pail, hence replacing even more water
Its alot for a 10gal to handle. He did way to much prior to the fish arriving. 0 nitrate is a sign of it

yeah I don't think I would have done the water change and his method of acclimation was off. but I don't think anyone holds you responsible.

why change 1/2 the water in a 10 gal right befor new fish are being shipped in? I told him, keep te light off, mean-while he is talking picture as there entering the tank. I know he was excited to get the fish, I was there once to:)

This is why we have the lessons learned part of the forum.

The lights were off the whole time, the camera has flash :)

jur = still alive :)

Screw this i cant trust my tank, I'm buying an 120gallon divider and than moving my fish into that space that has ben divided.
