Wow, I can't imagine how disappointed you must be. What a shame for a great fish to get wasted like that when it was so close to a good home. I'm sure Jeff will take care of you. Hopefully he has another one.

but i have question. why is the water in the bag blue....i have never had fish mailed so i have no clue as to how they arrive
The water is blue because there is some kind of medication thing put in to help the fish survive. Unfortunately with such big fish, this was not enough. Yeah, there was a little water in the outside bag, but I don't that had anything to do with it. I think it was just too big of fish in too small a space for too long. By the way, you're not meant to be able to tell what species it is. 
I didn't want to try putting them (there are two) in the tank, in case that somehow voided the DOA policy. I guess now that I think of it since the pics were taken with closed bags that's all that matters, but the bags have been back in the cooler for a couple hours now, and it's surely too late. Also they were very rigid, and the fins were frayed like you see with fish that have been dead for awhile. Anyway, I think there are more available, so I should be able to get replacements. I'm bummed though, they were both thick and huge, way bigger than I expected, at least six inches each.
I think I addressed everyone's questions.

Holly cow dude i said a live fish not a dead one. ne ways im sorry im sure Jeff will take care of it. Make sure to file a claim with fed ex so that the shiping will be covered they gurantee by a ceartain time for a reason. i order over 200 bucks of stuff from him a mounth ago and it got here on time they really messed up on yours. could you please tell us whaata kind of fish it was so we can anticipate the next fish.
